The Magic Quadrant for Primary Storage replaces two previous Magic Quadrants – the Magic Quadrant for Solid-State Arrays and the Magic Quadrant for General-Purpose Storage Arrays – thus acknowledging that all-flash is no longer a novelty. Gartner first recognized NetApp in 2013 as a Leader in the Magic Quadrant for General-Purpose Disk Arrays, and we have remained in the Leaders quadrant now for six consecutive years. Since 2016, NetApp has also been a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Solid-State Arrays. We believe, our position on the Magic Quadrant for Primary Storage isn't just a one-time honor; it's part of an established pattern of excellence.
NetApp is leading a market that is continuing to expand. By 2026, spending on global storage, including enterprise traditional storage, enterprise, cloud true private cloud and hyperscale server SAN, is predicted to reach $59 million. As data becomes increasingly more plentiful and more profitable for businesses, it’s not surprising that data storage spending is also on the rise.
The World Economic Forum expects the entire digital universe to reach 44 zettabytes by 2020. If that number is accurate, it will mean there are 40 times more bytes of data than there are stars in the observable universe. More data than stars means even more revenue possibilities for our partner channel.
