Repsol teams with NetApp to achieve energy efficiencies
Sustainability is now imperative in the natural gas and oil industry, and Repsol is leading the way with a goal of net zero emissions by 2050. Add in the pressure of fuel shortages in Europe, and Repsol needed to accelerate its efforts.
They turned to NetApp and Azure NetApp Files to streamline project efficiencies and improve fossil fuel retrieval methods to reduce environmental impact.
Quick decisions with lasting impact
Prior to Azure NetApp Files (ANF) implementation, Repsol engineers needed to spend up to 80% of their time searching for and formatting geoscience information and data to create exploration models. In addition to being time-consuming, inaccurate or miscalculated models could lead to environmental consequences.
ANF makes it possible to significantly increase modeling performance, cutting what once required months to process to only a few hours. Repsol engineers can run more models, collect better insights, and use pinpoint precision to produce fossil fuels while still reducing carbon emissions.
With Azure NetApp Files, we have seen amazing performance increases; simulations that took over a month, now are taking a few hours.
