NetApp has continually reinvented primary storage, working with our customer community to adopt unified all-flash and hybrid primary storage, and extending that innovation from their datacenters to today's hybrid multicloud world. Throughout this journey, we’ve been consistently recognized as a leader by industry analysts.

We’re once again thrilled that Gartner has placed NetApp in its Leader quadrant in the 2022 Magic Quadrant for Primary Storage. Our submission included the NetApp AFF all-flash array storage appliance and the NetApp Cloud Volumes ONTAP software-defined storage service. Both offers are underpinned by NetApp ONTAP, the only enterprise-grade storage offering available both on premises and as a first party native service supported by AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.

Gartner Critical Capabilities study for Primary Storage shows several key Use Cases where AFF was evaluated for traditional workloads like virtualization, application consolidation, and OLTP. But more importantly, we scored highest in two areas critical for hybrid multicloud success:

NetApp is #1 in Cloud IT Operations

NetApp is #1 in Cloud IT Operations

Out of 19 ranked offerings, NetApp received the highest score for the cloud IT operations use case. We believe this reflects the strength of our storage and data services offerings across both on-premises and the hybrid multicloud, delivered via a single control pane with a simplified user experience and underpinned by real-time AIOps and STaaS. Together these provide a simpler way for IT Operations teams to manage a storage and data estate that spans their on-premises data center and multiple clouds.

NetApp is #1 in Containers

NetApp is #1 in Containers

As for the containers use case, NetApp also received the highest score. We believe this is due to Astra’s ability to simplify how customers move and store their Kubernetes workloads across their hybrid multicloud environment. We believe, with our product capabilities, we help our customers accelerate the development and deployment of new cloud native applications to drive their digital transformation.

The next chapter(s)

The next chapter(s)

With thirty years of continuous innovation, we’ve never rested on our laurels or pretended that storage was simple. It’s not, especially when ONTAP is almost certainly the most feature-rich storage operating system on the planet. Hybrid multicloud environments increase this complexity exponentially. But we are continuously working to enable AI-driven automation and unified operations across environments to reduce complexity for our customers. Expect to hear some major announcements at NetApp INSIGHT 2022 event November 1st – 3rd that will further transform and simplify how you operate in the hybrid multicloud.
